5 Must-Haves to Fight COVID-19 At Home (English)

Hello, I’m Mamington, a working mom of three.

My 10-day quarantine after testing positive for COVID-19 was tough. No one in the household can leave the apartment. We could not call any outside help. We just had to get through these 10 days on our own. Below are items that I was so glad to have kept in our storage during our recuperation period. I highly recommend that families stock up on these to get through this infectious winter period.

5. Sport drinks and orange juice: Loss of appetite was a problem during the first few days of my infection. Although bottled drinks are not eco-friendly, they are recommended as they can be finished within a day, do not need to be shared with others, and bottles can be easily disposed of.

4. Disposable gloves: There were so many situations where I did not want to do something with my bare hands… like cleaning up used tissues or serving food to the family. Gloves must be stocked.

3. Ready to eat hearty soups: I had no energy to cook and relied on UBER. But UBER can be expensive. Ordering 2 meals per day for 10 days straight would dry up my wallet, so any ready to eat foods that were packed with nutrition were fantastic. Minestrone soup was popular to the children who LOVE tomatoes.

2. Pulse Oximeter: Blood oxygen saturation is a key measure for ensuring that COVID-19 does not become lethal. I was told that my saturation level should generally be between 95-100%, and if it were to dip under 90% I must go see a doctor immediately. Being able to monitor my saturation level at home was comforting.

1. Spicy ready to eat curry: Even with Omicron, I lost my sense of taste (possibly because my nose and throat were very phlegmy…) But in any case, after my appetite returned in the middle of my quarantine, I started craving foods with strong and spicy flavor. I never thought I would crave pouched curry as much as I do right now.

In addition to the above, there were many other things such as hand soap, disinfectant wipes, and bread rolls with longer expiries were convenient. Praying that this virus weakens or diminishes as soon as possible…
