Oisix Order Recommendations Top 5 (English)
Hello, I’m Mamington, a working mom of three.
For more than 5 years, we have made regular use of Oisix, a weekly grocery delivery service in Japan. Of course we go to the supermarket or Costco like any family with children, but the assurance that we will receive a box of fresh and healthy food products once a week is the reason why we have continued using the service. The variety of product offerings continue to expand and are generally health conscious. Today I would like to introduce my top 5 recommendations of products that appear frequently on our order list.

Mangoes are never cheap even when frozen, but having these in the freezer is a life saver when the children are begging for dessert and you are simply not in any mood to get up and slice up fruits for them. The mango slices are individually bagged and easy to serve. It tastes like fancy sherbet on a hot summer day too!

#4: Honey Tomatoes (Chiba) １Pack ￥３２８
This pack of cherry tomatoes is the reason why we got into Oisix in the first place. When my eldest was a toddler, she went through a phase where she denied and cried at all things tomato. My husband and I love Italian food and many other dishes that are tomato flavored, and we felt cursed if our daughter disliked tomatoes. We looked at different kinds of tomatoes from all over the country and finally found these cherry tomatoes that had reputations that they were as sweet as fruits (these tomatoes are named honey tomatoes not because they have honey all over it but because they naturally taste as sweet as honey). And indeed they were. My daughter started liking these, and all other things tomato as well. Yep, these tomatoes saved us!

These round shaped dumplings with different types of vegetables kneaded in the skin are a huge hit to the children. They are colorful (orange for carrot flavor, green for spinach flavor, and yellow for corn flavor), juicy and savory. Freshly fried dumplings have an addictive crisp on the outside and good nutrients on the inside. It also takes no more than 10 minutes to cook. We ensure we have at least 2 bags in our freezer at all times.

#2: Boneless Fish Series １６０ｇ ￥３００－５００
As parents, we are told that eating fish is good for our health and even for childrens’ brain development. But serving fish safely takes effort, especially the tweezing of the bones part. Well, the Oisix boneless fish series are sold with all the bones taken out, either fresh, frozen, or and/or flavored. It is easy to cook or serve to both adults and children. You can choose the fresh type if you are in a mood to cook or flavor your own fish. If you are in a rush and all you want to do is microwave and serve, you can choose the flavored type. Leftovers taste good on the next day as well, so they become perfect to fill space for the kids’ bento boxes.。

#1 Hokkaido Konsen Milk １L ￥ ２８８円
The standard size for a milk carton in Japan is 1L (yes, much smaller compared with a gallon in the US). We order at least 1-2 cartons of this milk from Hokkaido each week. It is a part of the “Select 3 products from dairy and other products” subscription where we pay ￥1280 per month and can select up to 3 products that are in scope of the service each week. We generally order 4 times a month and we ensure we take full advantage of this service, so we end up saving about ￥2000 on dairy products each month. The milk is fresh, flavorful, and goes perfectly with our coffees and cereals.
