Minimalist Inspiration (English)

Hello, I’m Mamington, a working mom of three.

I’ve always loved shopping and window shopping. I love discount shopping and consider going to outlet malls as a stress relief. Now that I am have a family of 5, a lot of “things” have piled up over the past 10 years. I don’t like to waste things, and I also want to educate my children to appreciate what they have and not be used to wasting things. However, what I have learned recently (and for obvious reasons), is that the more things that we have, the more likely that our apartment ends up being cluttered, and the more time that I have to spend cleaning the place (because the other 4 members of my family do not like to clean).

I feel stress when I see clutter. I searched for inspiration to get rid of clutter, researched cleaning and organization techniques, and that is when I started to gain interest in the lifestyle of minimalists through social media. So I took action. A month ago, I kicked off my journey to becoming a more organized pseudo-minimalist by turning my closets and drawers inside out and separating keepers and leavers. Of course I don’t want to just throw away whatever I don’t need, so if I feel like the leavers are in good enough shape to be handed down to others or sold on the internet, I do so. I also remember to be thankful to the leavers for the contribution they have made to our lives.

We selected a home with a lot of storage space for the 5 of us, so there are still so many areas that I need to get to. But when I see the areas that I have conquered and how organized and clean the areas look, I feel happiness. I also feel like my heart and body are lighter. It’s like feeling stressed when your to-do list is piling up or you have overdue tasks at work. Having unnecessary things pile up your surrounding may be inducing stress in our lives.

There is still a long road ahead to becoming a minimalist, but I am going to push ahead! See some samples of my well organized drawers and closets below 🙂
